Ethical Challenges in Touch – A Rethink for Company Directors

To enable participants to critically examine the ethical challenges they were encountering, the Forum adopted an interactive approach by arranging concurrent group discussions on a specially designed case study. Participants were divided into six discussion groups, each to discuss one of the following pre-assigned ethical issue with representatives of the co-organisers serving as facilitators:

•  Composition and role of board of directors
•  Disclosure of information by directors
•  Insider dealing
•  Responsibilities of professionals
•  Conflict of interests
•  Internal control and ethics management

During the open forum and plenary session, representative from each discussion group took turn to report back the group's views on the assigned topic. They also put forward questions to the Super Panel comprising 10 prominent representatives from the co-organisers with Mr Jim Wardell, Chairman of the Organising Committee of Directors' Ethics Training Programme, as the moderator.
