In this chapter, we focus our discussion on the legal and ethical issues that engineers may encounter in the profession, in particular the offering and accepting of illegal advantages, fraud, preservation of confidential information, conflicts of interest and professional proficiency. We will look at a number of scenarios to explain the different issues and illustrate how engineers can apply ethics in the workplace.
