Mr TONG reiterated the importance of maintaining a level-playing field for business to prosper and that Hong Kong has no tolerance for corruption. He also highlighted the benefits of enhancing ethical governance at the personal, corporate and community levels which the 2007 Directors' Forum aimed at.

"Corporate governance is not just about rules, regulations and systems. Good corporate governance ultimately depends on an ethical corporate culture. Corporate leaders and directors should practise ethical governance and constantly upgrade themselves in this regard."

The Honourable John TSANG highlighted how practising ethical governance could add value to the competitive edge of Hong Kong. He also spoke of the continuous government efforts to pursue various corporate governance initiatives to enhance the quality of Hong Kong's market.
