Sub Topic: ICAC can help

(Mr. Daniel de Blocq van Scheltinga, Executive Committee Member and Board Member of The European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong on-screen)

Mr. Scheltinga:   This business sector has become increasingly aware of the issue of business ethics, but business often doesn’t know how to deal with the issue, so they need more help in understanding how to implement business ethics into their respective companies. This is where ICAC comes into play helping them and offering education in this area. So I think education is key.

Corruption prevention services were offered to all newly listed companies in Hong Kong. We have visited over 1,000 newly listed companies to help them improve their corporate governance. Some 60% of the newly listed companies have taken our offer of services and their staff have been trained to promote business ethics in their organizations.
